UFP Industries, parent company for Deckorators and ProWood, have hired a new innovations director, Brian Floyd, as a part of the company’s commitment to delivering new products and services to the building materials and industrial markets.

Floyd comes to UFP Industries after a 20-year career in product design and innovation at Procter & Gamble, where he led collaborative teams to bring new products to market. He founded, created and launched current and future brands, including ZEVO, the first new category for the company in 20 years.

“Brian brings to UFP invaluable experience and leadership in the innovation space. His record of bringing together successful teams and ideas from anywhere is just what we need to build a world-class innovations company at UFP,” said Adam Goodson, VP of international, new product development, and innovation. “We have the grit and the resilience to succeed, Brian brings the experience to propel us forward.”

Upon taking the helm as CEO in late 2024, UFP CEO Will Schwartz emphasized that the company has a renewed focus on innovation and developing higher-margin value-added products.

“At UFP Industries we are all about pushing the envelope. From our roots as a Grand Rapids-based lumber company to where we are today as an industry heavyweight in the building materials space, UFP Industries has always had its sights set on the future,” said Will Schwartz, CEO of UFP Industries. “Welcoming Brian into the fold helps us focus in on that future of bringing to market higher- value products and services our customers are willing to pay for.”

In addition to his impressive industry experience, Floyd is a veteran of the U.S. military having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Floyd says his military experience informed his high-integrity, open-door leadership style that has contributed to his success.

“I believe good ideas can come from anywhere and look forward to jumping in and getting to know UFP from the production line on up,” said Floyd. “UFP has the right culture and drive necessary to become an industry-leading hub of innovation, and I look forward to working together to bring to market the next generation of UFP offerings.”
