Shurtape Technologies has introduced its new FrogTape Pro Grade Flashing and Waterproofing Tape, a weatherproof flashing tape that creates an airtight seal around deck ledgers, windows, doors and building openings.

The tape utilizes a high-performance acrylic adhesive specifically formulated for building envelope applications to help it adhere to a variety of surfaces in a wide range of weather conditions.

This professional-grade flashing tape is ideal for use in both residential and construction applications, including the flashing of windows and doors, deck ledgers, and weatherproofing for skylights, dryer vents, roofs and other building openings.

“The use of weatherproof flashing tape is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the building’s envelope and protecting it from the damaging effects of wind, water and other weather conditions, and we are excited to bring this new product to market,” said Kevin Stamets, VP of product marketing at Shurtape Technologies. “The addition of FrogTape Pro Grade Flashing and Waterproofing Tape to our portfolio continues to enhance the wide range of adhesive solutions we provide to the construction industry to meet a variety of jobsite needs.”

Features & Applications

FrogTape Pro Grade Flashing and Waterproofing Tape is designed for fast, easy application despite the weather to almost any surface, including OSB, concrete, plywood and exterior glass-faced gypsum without primers. Among the tape’s key features are:

• Initial repositionability offers ease of use and less waste

• Twelve-month UV resistance so builders can install with confidence

• All-weather performance, with the tape rated for installation without primers in temperatures ranging from 0° F to 150° F and for long-term performance after installation in temperatures ranging from -40° F to 240° F

• Self-healing around nails and protrusions for a waterproof seal

• Meets AAMA 711-22 industry test protocol for flashing tapes, passing nine performance tests

 Unique Adhesive Provides Improved Performance

FrogTape Pro Grade Flashing and Waterproofing Tape’s high-performance, UV, acrylic adhesive provides many benefits over the standard butyl adhesive used in many flashing tapes. The UV technology creates a stable adhesive system that won’t break down over time, but rather creates a stronger bond. The acrylic adhesive also works at peak performance across a wide range of hot and cold temperatures and climates where traditional flashing tapes may be problematic.

With its better conformability, FrogTape Pro Grade Flashing and Waterproofing Tape allows for better adhesion across corners and on challenging building materials, including rough or uneven surfaces without the use of primers. The tape is initially repositionable during installation, helping to ensure the job is done right. Acrylic adhesive is also produced more sustainably than butyl, without the use of solvents, thermal ovens, air pollutants or greenhouse gases, for a more positive environmental impact.
