Accsys, a fast-growing company that enhances the natural properties of wood to make high-performance and sustainable building materials, announced it signed Sergio Munhoz as North American sales director.

With a background in the wood coatings industry, Munhoz joins from AkzoNobel, where he led commercial teams across North and South America. He brings a strong track record in building high-performance teams and driving double-digit sales growth. Prior to AkzoNobel, he worked for Sherwin Williams, where he led divisional sales teams. Munhoz holds a degree in international business and a Master’s degree in strategic sales.

In preparation for the expected start-up of Accoya production in mid-2024, Accsys has expanded its commercial team and established an operational sales team at the Accoya USA factory office in Kingsport, TN., which will handle customer service for North America.

“This is a pivotal moment to be joining Accsys,” said Munhoz. “The upcoming launch of our Accoya production facility in Kingsport, dedicated to serving the North American market, is a game-changer. Accoya is an incredible product, and there’s a huge market in North America. Whether it’s doors, windows, decking, or cladding, Accoya’s performance is unparalleled.  With the team’s support, I am ready to unlock new opportunities and help build a strong and sustainable business in North America.”

Accoya wood brings unprecedented reliability to wood, with a 50-year above-ground and 25-year in-ground and freshwater warranty. Manufactured from fast-growing and renewable FSC certified sources (C012330), it is one of the few building products to be Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold. It will not visibly shrink, swell, or warp, making it ideal for use in windows, doors, decking, and siding.
